This pre-recorded webinar focuses on the role of the audiologist in the treatment and management of the dizzy patient.

In this webinar, we will review the role of the audiologist in balance testing, what diagnostic tests they offer, when and why to consider the testing and how diagnostic tests can help in the treatment and management of the dizzy patient.

We will look at the similarities and differences between the vestibular patient and the concussed patient and how the approach to testing may differ.


Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify at least four (4) different vestibular tests performed by the audiologist and when those tests should be ordered
  • Identify at least three (3) types of nystagmus and what makes them unique
  • Describe how to use vestibular testing in the treatment and management of their patients

Dr. Dana Day (Dana to all) has been an expert in hearing and balance healthcare for over 25 years, in the state of Arizona and the Southwest. Dana Day, Au.D. is the owner and founder of Arizona Balance & Hearing Aids and has been practicing in Phoenix and Maricopa County since 1985. Dana received her doctorate degree from A.T. Still University, Arizona School For Health Sciences. Dana has had the honor and privilege of working with and among some of the best and brightest professionals in the field of hearing and balance healthcare and she brings all that knowledge to her clinical setting and most of all her patients. She is licensed in the State of Arizona and fully accredited with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Dana enjoys working with patients of all ages providing state of the art technology whether it is the newest speech processors in hearing aids or vestibular testing for the dizzy patient.

Dr. Day has recently had the honor of being asked to collaborate with both the Banner Concussion Center and the Cactis Foundation in an effort to provide comprehensive concussion care to all ages, as well as educated our youngest athletes on the need to protect their heads when playing contact sports.

Dana has taught at the university level, both at Arizona State University and A.T. Still University as well as being a guest speaker at the Barrow Balance Symposium. Additionally, she has received her MBA from Arizona State University and is a clinical supervisor to 4th year doctoral students, preparing the next generation of Audiologists.
